Long Road to Recovery!!!!

My grandpa, Jerry Miles, has several health issues such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, two kinds of sleep apnea, and has been disabled for 35 years due to a rare disease. He is in constant pain (he has a pain pump and also takes multiple oral pain meds) and cannot sleep. He unknowingly falls asleep while walking or just sitting eating dinner. Jerry has fell several times due to falling asleep but on February 8, 2009 he fell while walking across the room and broke his neck in four places. They did not want to operate due to high risk of death or paralysis. Instead they opted to put a halo on him. He has to wear this for three months and has to be under 24 hour care due to the sleep apnea. The insurance will not pay for a 24 hour sitter so his wife and three kids are having to sit with him. He is in a rehab facility in Fort Worth, TX and the insurance will only pay a 100% for the first 14 days and thereafter they will be responsible for $120.00 a day out of their pocket. Also he exceeds his insurance limitations on medications before they year is up and has to pay out of pocket. They are on a fixed income and do not have funds for this extra care that he needs. A sitter will cost the family $12-$16 an hour and eventually one will have to be hired. If you would like to help Jerry and Gwen Miles with either funds or your time both would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to help out with funds, an account has been set up at First National Bank of Burleson at P.O. Box 699 Burleson, TX 76097. You can mail a check with Attention: Jerry Miles Fund on the front of the envelope or you can go by either location in Burleson. If you would like to donate your time to help the family sit with him you can either post it on here or email me at sdoty22@yahoo.com. We would like to thank everyone for their help with this situation.
